APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY – MECHANICAL

Dragon LNG has an exciting opportunity to join our highly skilled and dedicated Maintenance team in a Mechanical Apprenticeship position commencing in September 2023.  The apprenticeship is a 4-year programme with the successful applicant enrolling at Pembrokeshire College and undertaking qualifications up to HNC level.

The Mechanical Apprenticeship position is a fantastic opportunity to begin a career in engineering.  Mechanical Engineering Technicians are responsible for installing, managing and maintaining equipment through preventative and corrective maintenance activities.  Ensuring that the Dragon LNG terminal’s mechanical systems are available and operating safely, reliably and efficiently.

Through a supported learning experience, the apprenticeship will provide a thorough understanding of the operational processes at Dragon LNG, with hands on work experience in addition to theoretical learning at Pembrokeshire College.  You will be able to put your knowledge into practice working with our highly skilled technicians on site.


The apprenticeship programme will consist of:


Year 1 – Study at Pembrokeshire College with one day per week and College holidays working on site with the Mechanical team.

Years 2, 3 & 4 – Attending Pembrokeshire College one day per week to continue studies and working on site at Dragon LNG 4 days per week.

The successful applicant should have:

  • At least five GCSEs (at grade C or above), or equivalent, in Mathematics, English, and Science.
  • An interest in engineering, particularly mechanical maintenance.
  • The desire to learn and develop higher level skills with the support and guidance of experienced practitioners.
  • The desire and ability to achieve qualifications at or above NVQ level 3 and HNC.
  • A capable user of Information Technology.
  • Self-motivation, good problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • A good level of fitness and the ability to work at height.
